Have you actually drained and flushed cooling system per manual. Most discount removing block plugs because it's a pain and not easy to do. All the the crap you hear about that "they" flush out of the radiator and other orifices may be sitting in the bottom of the block cooling passages.

Prior to my water pump and thermostat changes drained/flushed and douched with a gallon of vinegar added to water. Ran for a few days drained/flushed a couple more times.

Temps dropped more dramatically than when new 180 thermostat installed. Water pump and fan/clutch no difference noticed.

Sorry, but i have to ask, how exactly did you bleed the system?

Yes number9, the entire system has been drained and flushed. New freeze plugs, the whole nine yards. @Dave03S I placed the coolant recovery tank on top of the battery tray, and opened the bleed screw and started filling through the tank until it was flowing out of the bleed screw for about 30 seconds. I closed the bleed screw, put the tank back in its place, and topped it up.

Don't know if this helps but, yesterday i helped a friend run an errand using my disco and at the time i had the hood completely off the rover. I have a glowshift gauge with the sensor mounted at the upper rad hose as well as a scan tool on my phone via Bluetooth adapter. I did an electric fan conversion when i redid the cooling with all new bits. Any way my glowshift and my obd reading was about 10 degrees off with the glowshift reading at 184-5f and my scan reading at 194-5f at highway speed. At idle the temps were 10 degrees hotter respectively. Now i'm wondering which sensor to go off of.

I have a glowshift gauge as well and its off by a few degrees, maybe 2 or 3 nothing crazy. the scantool would say 201 and the glowshift will say 197. I don't know what to do next. I don't want to keep throwing money and buying parts and still overheat. I did a block test, and I don't have blown head gaskets. So I eliminated that.

soo coolant temps are the least of my worries now, I was driving on the highway, went to pass someone, and heard a loud bang from engine, shortly after the oil pressure light came on. So I pulled over as fast as possible and shut it down. Got it towed home, and hoping it's just the oil pump gears. While I'm doing this job I'm trying to ditch my clutch fan. I was looking at a 15" fan from flex a lite that claims 3000cfm. Is this enough airflow?
