Default another door lock dilemma 96 disco1

The other day I went to lock my rover by turning my key to the left in my drivers door. Just as I went to do this, my key jammed part way there, and all of a sudden my key was stuck. After jimmying the key while turning to the left, it turned, but had no effect on the door locks whatsoever. So now, my key will go in the lock and turn, but does not have the ability to lock or unlock the vehicle. I have to manually lock all my doors from the inside and unlock the passenger side, which of course means that I cannot activate my alarm.

Is there a spring or something that I broke or do I need a whole new assembly? I did a search, but cannot find another exact case of my dilemma...

MOst of all, TIA!!

Sounds like the linkage that connects the key lock to the door lock broke or came loose.
Remove your door panel and have a look see, usually a pretty simple and cheap DIY.

If you're in a cold climate, the linkage might have frozen. This happened to me a few nights ago on my Pontiac. Went to go unlock the car, and the damn cylinder jammed. Turned it right to unlock the door, and the cylinder stuck and refused to turn back. Left my keys in the door, went back into work, got a cup of water (from a coffee maker) and poured it down my window still while I turned the key. It came right loose, and I sprayed about half a can of WD-40 into every crevice of that door I could find.

Then again, if you're somewhere warm, it could have just broken. LOL
