Default another head job

so I need to do another head replacement. so my question is if i did one a year ago, would it still be dumb to just do the side that is leaking, i can get one set of bolts and one gasket but i dont know if things like the vallt gasket will be good after the refit.

Who did the work, why has it failed in 1 year, someone did something wrong, where the heads inspected for warpage, crack and leaks?

Default mike,

I did have the the heads resurfaced and checked for any problems and i had the machanic come down and look at the block to make sure it wasn't warped or scared. when i first put it back together one of the hose's sliped of and i over heated. i checked it the next morning and ever since the i have leaked coolant. then driveing to work on day what i thought was an exhaust leak got three time louder and i could feel the loss of power. bummed rides the rest of the weak and on Saturday while repairing the exhaust leak at the flang, i found the real problem, the head gasket was blown out and it looked to be one chunk comeing straight out from the cylinder. so i don't know much but i know it'll save me time and $ to just do the one side, but will i have to worry about the other one if i dont change it?

I can see why you want to do one side onlt and that makes sense.

Default unsure of my plan

so u dont think it would be foolish to just do one side, even if it had a fluid leak as well? i was constantly topping off, was about ready get a new water pump, but today while i was taking her apart, i found 4 or more bolts holding the inlet manifold down were loose. would it be very risky to still just change the head gasket the blew?

If you have the thing apart, you might as well do 'em both. That way you can check both heads and the block for warpage and scarring, and put it back together right. If you keep the hoses on it and the thermostat new every 5 years or so, you should never have to worry about it again.

Besides, the kits all come as a set for both heads...they do this for a good reason. :-)

Cheers,
Dave
