Default Another tire post.

First of all, I hope everyone and their loved ones are as healthy as they were last Christmas and even better.

I have not been on here in quite some time.

Have had my 245/74/16 duratrack for about 6 years and have about 60 000 miles on them.

They are overdue for a change since 10k miles ago. Severely cupped due to warn out shocks.

Had the HD OME shocks and springs installed about 8 years ago. Few months back I installed the terrafirma shocks and kept the OME shocks. Rides smoother other then the noise and shaking from the bad tires.

I ordered Cooper Discoverer A/T all season 111T 245/75/16 from Walmart And they arrived in mail today.

The side wall felt soft as I was stacking them up so I looked on the sidewall and found its a 2 ply sidewall.

Anyone runs these? I think 2 ply would be extremely soft. Right?

Seems like they both have similar construction

Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac LT M+S
Thread: 2 ply polyester +2 ply steel
Sidewall: 2 ply polyester

Copper Discoverer A/T 111T
Thread: 1 ply nylon +2 ply polyester +2 ply steel
Sidewall: 2 ply polyester

Just a fun fact, my motorcycle tires have 2 ply nylon thread and sidewall.

Should be fine for normal road use. I know lots of people who won't run duratracs off road due to weak sidewalls (I had a set and just wasn't impressed with their grip and quickly moved on from them) and they had plenty of documented failures. I think you will enjoy the coopers much more and will be just fine.

What is the max cold pressure stamped on the tire?

Says Max pressure 44 psi. I would assume it's cold.

So I got them mounted and I am in love again. Was hating the ride and was considering to end a 10 year relationship with the disco.

Other then how quiet they are i don't have much else to comment on the tires as it's only been a week.

However any other tire would have been much better then the Fred Flinstone tires I had on. The cupping was so bad that at very low speed I would notice the hood move left, right, up, down like a boat.

Next I got to replace leaking throttle body heater, Wich seems like I have to replace every couple of years.

Cheers

I use the Duratrac's with a E load rating. I believe the sidewalls are stronger and more geared toward our D2's

It is always cold pressure. The recommended pressure for the rear under max load conditions is 46 psi. I am using that on my camping trips. It would be over the limit with 44 psi tires. I decided for 50 psi tires.
