Default Antifreeze leak, just replaced head gaskets

Oh what a time. I have an 99 Disco with 135k miles and one day it got hot so I pulled over and it dumped all the coolant. I got it to my friend's shop and tore it down to the heads and replaced the head gaskets, valley, and valve covers. Now after figuring out the flashers and reseting the alarm it started and I let it warm up as I added coolant, and it seemed fine so I shut it down to check things out. I could see coolant building up on the passenger side valve cover towards the back and in ten minutes it's dumped about half a gallon on the ground towards the back of the motor. Any ideas before I pull my hair out?

Did you have the heads checked and milled down (assuming they were warped)?

did you take a look at the coolant hoses to make sure they werent leaking.

but if you are losing alot five bucks says you forgot to tighten down the back two correctly.

Heads weren't warped and I followed the torque specs properly so I'm at a loss. Today I'll do a pressure test and see where that leads.

How do you know that? Did you put a steel ruler across them, or bring them to a competent machine shop?

I've never seen an aluminum head that didn't need to be decked after an overheat. Come to think of it, I don't know I've seen one that didn't need to be decked that's been on for more than 20k miles, regardless of the reason it was removed.

Turns out I just messed up an O ring on a coolant pipe going to the intake. For my first major repair I can't complain about just messing that up, could've been worse. But now after about 60 miles the temp keeps getting too high and the heater blows cold air, then warm then cold, and so on. I know, the joys of owning a Land Rover.
