Default Any tricks to removing the fan without the special holding tool?

I need to get my radiator out tomorrow and am stuck (although I didn't try real hard - currently nursing a stomach bug).

TIA.

I used a long chisel, scared it off, never to go back on.

(2 - 12" electrics summit racing) close to rad, no shroud, (1) stat, (1) DTSP center off switch under dash, can disable fans if necessary.

I think (don't know) that the absence of the heavy poorly balanced clutch fan also helps the waterpump bearings.

luck,greg

I found that a chain vise grips works well to keep the pulley from moving.

stuff a rag or old t-shirt between the belt and one of the pulleys. Keeps the fan from moving.

I used a big screw driver and wedged it against the motor so the shaft of the screw driver locked against the bolts to stop it spinning. then just used a spanner to unscrew.
2 handed job but easy enough.

Thanks gentlemen - game on. I might go to the electric fan in the future but I need to keep my focus and get this thing on track.

I put a 10mm wrench on one of the pulley bolts then put anther wrench on it to extent it. I just pulled against that and busted teh fan loose.

Thanks!
