Any way to have cdl in 2002 disco 2?
I was wondering if there is any possible way to put a cdl in a 2002 disco. I want to be able to lock that up I called one place and they said I would have to get a new driveshaft, change my tranny, an get a new cdl. Is tere any way that anyone knows of that I could get used parts and do it myself. Thanks for the help!

No you not need a new driveshaft or trans.
All you need is the CDL kit.
lucky8 sells them.
CamDisco installed one into his truck.
$500? I think it was total.
You will also need a CDL shifter and linkage either from a DI (cheaper) or a '04 DII ($$$)

The answer to your question is YES, you can have CDL in a 2002 model...
But here's the bad news... Late 01-03 Discovery's have no 10mm stud ("Nipple") to use for engaging the CDL and require a complete replacement of the front output section of the T-case. This is the major downside to 2002 models.
You can find these used, but you will have to drop some cash. That is the ONLY thing you will need to replace though, not all that other stuff.
After you have done that, you will need to buy a 2004 shifter/linkage or a DI Shifter/Linkage to actually engage the CDL. I went with the 04 because it is a straight up install and "easy" to do compared to the DI. There is no bending or anything involved. Don't get me wrong, the DI is just as good, they both do the same thing, is just wanted simplicity.
My shifter/linkage from lucky8 was about $380 at the time, now it priced at $420.
Hope that helps a little bit, let me know if you have any questions. This is one upgrade I have a fairly good understanding of.

I agreed with Spike on just buying the whole thing as one, you'll prob save quite a bit if you can find one.
If you can't find an 04 T-case with CDL linkage included, make sure you buy a 99-00 DII T-case. The "nipple" is the key to CDL, if it doesnt have that, you don't have CDL.
If you do the whole project on your own, you'll save quite a bit.
