I do see the irony, but they likely just write the check for the banner placement and have no idea their air filters get bashed on these boards.

On the flip-side, many of us (including myself) do use their over-priced oil filters!

i know. i use them too. i got tired of buying regular airfilters.

if i was smart i would use my K&N only when im expecting to get my rover wet and use a normal air filter the rest of the time but im lazy so...
still amusing though.

I don't even know why people use the overpriced oil filters when WIX are only about $4.50.

I'm not familiar with the WIX filter for our application. Is it as good as the K&N? I use the extra-large capacity K&N 3001 filter and I like the nut on the end for easy removal. Also, the K&N has the anti-drainback valve; do the WIX filters have this?

I'm all for saving a few bucks so long as I'm not compromising quality!

Disco Mike has tried to get the owner/administrator off the this forum to get rid of K&N as a sponsor but he won't do it. Mike and I have discussed this very thing before.

Here are the specs. Also available as the NAPA Gold, but you pay a bit more as opposed to getting it a heavy truck parts house. It's usually the independent/smaller chain autoparts stores that carry WIX.

Wix actually makes filters for a lot of different companies as well as sells them under their own name. Carquest filters I know for certain are made by Wix and I believe NAPA filters are also.

There are only a couple oil filter manufactures out there but they all make filter per the specs supplied to them by the companies that are selling them under a different name.
My own personal belief is that if you are going to take good care of your engine, the filter is more important then the brand of oil, thats why I choose the K&N 3001 or the Mobil 1-301, both are about 40 % larger then the factory filter and filter out more contaminates.
Royal Purple just came out with a oil filter, haven't found the specs on it yet, may be another top line filter if they spec it out right to whoever they have build it.

K&N's oil filters are good.
