Land Rover Issuing Recall on Discovery, Discovery II

Posted On: March 21, 2012

The Wall Street Journal has recently reported that Jaguar Land Rover will be issuing a recall on rear drive shaft couplings found in Land Rover Discovery and Discovery II vehicles.

Land Rover's recall pertains specifically to 180 couplings made between April and November of 2011. The recalled couplings (product number TVF10001) were sold as service parts for Land Rover Discovery ('95-'99) and Land Rover Discovery II ('99-'04) vehicles as well as some 1995 Range Rover Classics.

The recall comes after Land Rover determined that the faulty couplings can fail while driving, causing strong vibrations. If left unchecked, the couplings can come apart and separate the drive shaft from the vehicle, increasing the risk of an accident.

The recall is set to begin by April 23rd. Land Rover will replace these faulty drive shaft couplers free of charge. Customers can contact Land Rover directly at 201-818-8500.

I just read this and was wondering if it pertains to anyone of us.

This only applies to 180 vehicles that were serviced using a replacement coupling, not the original from the factory, or any other coupling built or installed outside of the date range.
