Well let your curiosities be satisfied! Mine is open header clad until I order new exhaust gaskets. I've got to take the headers off to cut off the ball and cup flanges. To replace them with slip fit joints.

Sounds great. What all is involved with this mod? Does it create any reliability issues or complications? CA emissions compliant?

I don't know the intricacies of CA emissions law. I do know you'd have to have CA legal cats. Not sure how long tubes work with the law though, even if you had legal cats.

You'd have to have a shop bend up a custom exhaust system. I'm reworking mine right now to include cats as I initially left them out. Its hard to fit cats in the stock location because the pipe runs so close to the frame rails. Because of that I'm going to end up putting the cats in the factory muffler location and then I'm going to pipe over the rear axle and have the muffler where the resonator would have gone.

Obviously just open headers is illegal. No emissions equipment, no muffler. But tack the exhaust on and it varies by state.

Installation requires removing the cross members, old exhaust, and SAI if you have it. The SAI has to come out so the headers can be installed. Another VERY important step is unhooking your battery. You have to either remove or modify the heat shield on your starter motor. Mine is dangling in the breeze right now, but I'm going to work on it when I get the headers back out. If you don't unhook the battery you'll end up shorting the positive terminal and cooking a bunch sh*t.

Sounds damn good. Which headers did you use and when you put your cats and new exhaust on, how are you gonna do the o2 sensors and can u put the crossmembers back in or would you have to get the spacers from rte?

The front O2 is immediately after the collector. The rear O2 will still be immediately after the cats. I think that there will be *just* enough cable to run that far. If there's not then I'll just reuse the O2 spacers I have to have enough reach.

Cross members go back in just fine, no spacers required.

I used the Hedman RRC headers. I got them on amazon and surprisingly they fit around everything, including the steering shaft.

Will do, but it'll probably be a while. Rovers on the backburner because silverado has lifters ticking and the cam is scored. Moms Tahoe has the same issue. There goes almost $2k...
