Default Anyone ever have a bad bilstein?

So much for German quality....Installed a set of bilstein today, drove a few miles to test, and got home to find a surprise under the hood. Nice pink fluid all ocer the top of the left front shock tower. Thought I might have nicked ane of the ABS brake lines with the shock tower housing as I was reinstalling, but doesn't look like it. There is also fluid at the base of the shock housing, no way brake fluid would have made it in there.

Guess I'll have to disassemble and return the "yellow wonder"....Anybody have any other ideas?

Sorry to hear that happened. I have the Bilstein HD on my 03 Disco for the last 3 months now and have used Bilstein HD in all my other cars. I have actually had issues with Koni adjustables, go figure.

It can happen, just call your supplier and get it replaced.

Well just drove it around a little more, and stoped leaking, but I still don't trust that it won't.

Anyway, thanks Mike for the Magnecor advice, swaped them out using the great instructions on the board, and no you don't have to remove the Intake manifold, just have patience. Tried the NGK platinum plugs with the tiny electrode (kind of look like the iridium ones, but platinum), and the truck has a lot more punch, and idles much better.

I guess I'll continue your advice and try the sea foam to finish up the tuneup.

Thx again.

I had one fail on a HD Dodge Diesel - 3/4 ton with 8800lb axles. I've had such good luck otherwise, that I took it as a freak and replaced with another Bilstein.
