Anyone have this happen to them? Screwy odometer
I was driving back home from Chicago yesterday and about 15 miles outsideof the city I noticed that my odometer read 86,900 miles instead of the 54,000 that it was supposed to read, a jump of almost 33,000 miles!...I nearly had a heart attack and had flashes of quick depreciation, headaches of proving that I in fact hadn't driven those additional 33,000 miles, and the probable extended stay at the dealership, race through my head.
...I went so far as to file a claim with my insurance company as I couldn't take it anywhere to get it checked out (Sunday) and I wanted a written record of what had happened asap.
...when I started driving again about a half hour later I pushed the trip odometer and to my suprise my car odometer blipped back to 54,000 miles...screwy, scewy stuff...anyone have this happen to them too?
...btw none of my other electronics were acting up...no warning lights on, all radio presets were still there, all lights worked, etc...my 1st Disco heart attack...and from what I have read around here there may be more to come

Not sure why, but zerochills is right. 54000 miles is 86000 kilometers. If it ever does it again, pay attention to the little word in the window. it should switch too.
There was no word in the window...there is no km or m sign next to the odometer reading.
...oh well, case solved, guess my forum name is pretty appropriate[sm=tongue.gif]

This happened to me as well.
When you go to clear your trip... you held it down too long. Just hold it down until you see it change back. Next time just hold the button down until it clears the trip; all it takes it 2 sec. longer and it will start changing on you.
