Does anyone know of a good indipendent Land Rover mechanic in the Austin, TX area? I'd like to build a relationship and take my business to someone other than the dealer!!!

Hey Jeff,

I'm in San Antonio and I ran a google search for Land Rover AND San Antonio and I did find a couple shops that say they specialize in Land Rover's. It's been a couple weeks since I searched but I did find a couple out there. I didn't find any in San Antonio; but I've never taken it to any independent shops. I hope it helps a little, sorry I couldn't be of any more help. But if you do fund out you like let me know. I wouldn't mind a drive if you find someone you trust.

I live in the great city of Austin as well and drive a '96 Disco SE7 that has needed some work. Last Oct. I had the unfortunate experience of needing a valve job. I shopped around after hearing $3500+ from the dealer and around $3000+ from some other places. I came across Olde English Import Service and he quoted me around $2500+. The owner's name is Steve (who funny enough is English) and has been working solely on british cars (Land Rovers, Jaguars etc) for 23 years or so. Great guy, excellent work, 12 month warranty on his work, and he even kept it just under $2500. I will definitely use him in the futrue. Best of luck.

What about group work parties?
I'm under warranty 'til September, but it sounds like we've got enough people in the Austin area to share tools and experience. My cousing (far south Austin) has a Disco and a Range Rover. We could learn tips and tricks to maintenance ...hands on.
