Default Anyone ordered a V8 Long Block from Cannibal recently ?

long story short, my truck started using coolant this morning, no visible indicators of where the coolant is going and I'll know shortly if its a dropped sleeve or Headgasket.

I have an 02 RR 4.6 in my truck (original engine dropped a sleeve and this was dropped in before i bought it), so i'm not tied to the motor. Finally the transplant came from a 80K junkyard truck.

I'm heading out of the country for 4 weeks. Cannibal thinks that they can get me a long block by the last week in December. Can anyone who has ordered a block from them attest to whether they feel that this is representative of their timelines ? I've seen posts from guys who had their trucks done by Cannibal that had to wait a real long time....

I can attest to the quality of the finished product. Haven't had mine long enough to attest to the reliability, but others have.

I had about a 2 week delay, but Cannibal made up for it by sticking in some goodies!

You're gonna really enjoy the extra goodness of the engine, makes these trucks come alive!

I am the original owner of my truck, and I can tell you she has never purred so perfectly!

Thanks guys, that's what I wanted hear. I'll go ahead and place an order on the "30 over" long block then.

I'm envious when I talk with someone who owned their truck from new. Every weekend has been an exercise in fixing some aspect of neglect or abuse on my truck I iust want to find the previous owners and slap them across the head !

Do some research on the forums first. I heard a couple bad reviews about them. I forget the name but another company had a slightly better reputation all way around as far as supplying re manufactured engines was concerned.

if you want to drop to 4.0 Turner is doing complete top-hatted 4.0's for under $4k as a blow out special.

I've seen them get an engine to a customer in less than 2 weeks, great engine too, crazy powerful(compared to a Rover V8)

My experience was lengthy only because mine was being built during Tornado season and Oklahoma was getting pounded by them at the time. Just talk to Steve tell him your concern and he will work with you.
I have had nothing but great service from Cannibal. He helped me in several ways. I suggest his cam upgrade and getting the manifold ceramic coated to help with heat dissipation. My motor is artwork and runs like a dream! I could not be happier.

Trust me man, I feel your pain. I haven't even driven my rover yet. I've taken the engine out, put on a 2" lift, and I'm in the process of rebuilding the calipers, then I'm gonna swap all the brake lines and put on new rotors. I still want to put on a new radiator before the engine goes in. So im not in a great rush. The lift of stuff I have/had to do for this truck is long.

Thanks so much for the feedback guys. I have spoken with Steve, super nice and forthright guy. I just wanted to check in with folks who have ordered from him to get a feel for how optimistic his estimates might be for delivery.

Turner does have a great reputation as an engine builder but there's a really strong tradition of building awesome V8's in this country too. Steve has a "30 over" motor that comes out to just under 5litres that they've installed in some Defenders that I really want to order
