Apparently it was about time the bearings were replaced
i just used a cheap $80 summit cam bearing tool, it worked perfect actually. Honestly there was only a light tick when it was fully warm and I'm guessing that was the lifter eating away the cam bearing that walked. Cam was fine but I replaced it with a higher lift crower cam and oem lifters.
probably a lot. The oem cam bearings have a weird design, they aren't solid. They're split at one point and have a little joint, it's hard to explain. I'm sure that contributes to them walking. The aftermarket bearings I picked up look like they were much higher quality and completely solid.

Yeah I know what you mean, very weird design.
Good to know the aftermarket units are solid.
Now I'm irritated though, willing to bet I've got the same issue and I'll be damned if I'm stripping the thing down to a short block only to change the bearings... ugh
