Default ARB roof rack experience?

Mentally prepping for summertime has me thinking of a rack for my '03. Since I have an Irish Wolfhound and a German Shepherd, the bulk of my camping gear will need to go up top, but I am not interested in a full rack (unless those with them can convince me the wind noise is bearable). Any experience with the ARB rack designed for the back portion of our roof? Seems stout...

Thanks!

I have an ARB rear half rack on my 97 Disco and like it well. I have only used it a couple of times in 3 years to haul lots of gear and there were no problems. It is stout and looks good. I'm well satisfied with it. The only minor issue is it hits low limbs and brush when out wheeling quite often but it has never come loose or been damaged. It is heavy duty and tough like all ARB items seem to be.

Do you hear it much at speed?

No, I don't hear it at all. I know it cuts down on my MPG but they all do. I hear some whining from my tires and drive system components but not the roof rack.

Just the info I was looking for! Thanks! Just an afterthought...do you ever find you wish you had more rack? (I am sure this can/will be misinterpreted...)

No, the half rack has been just fine for my usage. Even with 4 people out camping for a few days, the half rack and the interior cargo space have been more than adequate for what we needed. I like the half rack look. I don't live in an area with many other Rovers but the few I see have full racks and I like my look better. Think about what your future usage will be and then decide on a full or half rack.

I think the only reason I would need more room is if I went with something like a roof top tent, which I don't see happening for a while. Then, if I cross that bridge, I can always upgrade the rack and park the ARB on a classified somewhere. Thanks again.
