I will admit I was looking at ARP studs since all the cool kids were doing them.

I just ordered the kit with bolts.

Realistically my D2 is a trail truck that gets about 2,000 miles a year. No way I will see the next 20,000 miles on this truck.

The debate of head studs vs tty bolts is nearly as heated as your choice of oil, politics or religion.

But if you have instant failure on either method of holding down your head gasket your installer or your machine shop screwed up.

I went with studs, they are just simpler, TTY are a little more finicky but fine as long as you do it correctly

I've used both & if done correctly they both work fine.

When using bolts I feel that it’s important to mark the bolts after doing the first torque with the torque wrench. The odds of slipping off on one or two of the bolts is high. If you didn’t mark them you won’t know where you’re at. I also put a piece of plywood on the windscreen to prevent me slipping off and smashing it.

Agree. Use a Sharpie to mark the TTY bolt heads to keep track of how many degrees they're turned.

I use a paint pen and Mark not only the bolt heads but also the socket and extensions that I use. It's not so important that you are precisely 90° on the first cycle but you want to be dead nuts at 180° when you finish

Some of my techs struggle with the hokey pokey.
