ATF fluid change
I have been reading about ATF fluid change and that dropping the pan will get around 6 qts out. I am not sure when the fluid was last changed, i assume it was around 25,000 miles or so. And i assume it was done at the rover dealer. This would mean it was changed with DEX III; what if i just change 6 qrts for a simple "up keep" would it be ok to replace 1/2 with DEX V or synthetic ATF? In other words is having 6 qrts of DEX III and 6 qrts of DEX V or Syn. ok?
And about how long does it take to change the oil, drop the pan, clean and replace? Thanks,
Scott

You don't have to drop the pan, there is a drain bolt and a fill bolt in the pan. You will also only be able to drain a little under 5 qts at best. Make sure after filling it up, start the engine shift drive to reverse and then recheck, adding as necessary.

The only other fluids available are the non racing type synthetics which are great, way to expensive when you consider you have to pay for a flush and 12 quarts of fluid.
Why not just change your fluid more frequentily if you are pushing your truck that hard, I drain mine of every 15,000 miles to assure it will hold up.
