Default ATF Synthetic

Some folks have experienced oil leaks after switching from dino to synthetic for the engine oil, has that also been the case for the transmission oil? Will it start leaking too if I fill it up with synthetic?

I'm planning to replace the transmission filter and gasket and I'm debating between using the Valvoline MaxLife Synthetic ATF or the Castrol 03520 Transmax DEX/MERC. Any advise will appreciated. TIA.

I don't have any leaks there. I run Royal Purple synthetic

Just changed lube + filter 2K miles ago

Just make sure you get a new crush washer for the fill plug. I've never had luck reusing those things

I have never heard of anyone having trans fluid leaks tied to using synthetic ATF. In fact, I don't recall hearing about trans leaks at all.

I had trans leaks with synthetic. It was because the output shaft(or t-case input shaft) was scored, which is very common.

I ran Royal Purple in my 08 Hayabusa for over 15k miles.
Car oil, not even wet clutch specific, and literally thousands of miles of 10 and 11 o'clock wheelies. Not power wheelies either, balanced stand ups for miles at a time.
Engine ran like new, never one problem, ever. And that's staying high up in the rpms, 10k+.
Royal Purple makes great stuff.

Referring specifically to ATF fluid. I'm sure it's fine in your not zx12 lol.

My Busa only made the normal suzuki sounds like it's gonna fly apart noises.

I take it Disco trans don't like RP then

I did a rebuild on an '03 gsxr 1000 engine last year, which I believe is nearly identical to the busa motor, just different rotating assembly and bore (the repair manual kept showing identical procedures for both engines).

Really was a sweet little motor. Had the big end of the rods milled for a tight bearing fit so it didn't have that nasty zuke bearing spin again lol.

Don't quote me on this, but some ATF is synthetic right off the shelf. Just depends on the type.
