Default Atlantic British Rebuilt 4.6?

Thing is like $7,000 up from $5,000. Anyone have any experience with this? Is it better than stock?

What would you put in instead?

For the money, I'd trust the turner engine more. You can buy 10+ Discos for 7 grand though

Default Got a link for the engine you're talking about?

I agree, you can buy a lot of Discos for that - but not with a brand new rebuilt Atlantic British motor.

There is something to be said for a rebuilt P38 4.6.

I'd put a Turner in instead. Cheaper, and they specialize in exactly this.

Not a lot of info on their site. What does that Turner motor give you, numbers wise, over stock?

100x reliability (approximately) with their Darton top hat cylinder sleeves.
Maybe 10-25 HP with the gas flowed heads and Kent camshaft.

It's the best option for a new engine hands down... short of embarking on a diesel conversion.

I wonder if you could just go all in and do headers and exhaust with the new motor and cams then remap the motor to recognize its new capability...

Might squeeze another 80 horse out of it.

Yeah maybe, but I haven’t heard of anyone remapping the ecu. I’m a bit easier to please myself, I’ll take the reliability and call it a day.

For $7k, I'de spend $3k more and do an LS conversion.
Sky's the limit with one of those.
With nearly 20 years of D2's out there, I haven't seen or read anywhere that anyone has been able to make adjustments to the ecu. The D1's, yes, but no D2.
Which would also explain why there are only 2 or 3 cams, and headers available as aftermarket parts.
If you can't adjust the air/fuel ratio, you're limited to work with what it has.
I'm rebuilding my 04, 4.6 now myself, and I'll have under $2k in a full rebuild, pinned liners, no tophats.
