Default Is the Autel AL619 Still a good buy for scanning Tres Amigo codes?

I saw mention of the Autel AL619 in a 2014 thread here, as a good scanner choice for reading and clearing Tres Amigo/SRS/ABS codes. I see them on Amazon for $105. Wondering if that is still the best value out there

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Other than cheaper compfuser/smartphone based; I believe it is still the best value as professional shop-oriented units do not justify personal occa$ional use.

Got one of these a few weeks ago for about 125.00. Money well spent, diagnosed my 3 amigos to a ABS sensor. Cleaned connector on the drivers side under the hood, cleared codes and went thru state inpection.
Then proceeded to bang my head on steering wheel for not buying it 10 months ago !

Hi Brian

It's OK for a cheap code reader/deleter but that's where it stops. IMHO it doesn't have the versatility to identify exactly the problem arising i.e. it cannot identify exactly which ABS sensor on which wheel is defective. Equally, it will not activate or program most of the systems, i.e. activate the Wabco modulator for brake bleeding or re-programme the ECU or BCU, re-program keys or fobs etc. I suppose the Autel AL619 is OK for the price but has it's limitations.

I also own a higher spec Autel MaxiDiag MD802 but again it's ok but limited hence I bought the Britpart Lynx for the job of infilling in all of the technical gaps in performance.

Hi guys,
Mr France thanks for the reply, I glean your knowledge on here quite often. My AL619 showed me the specific ABS Sensor of L/H side as being erratic, maybe they have made them better over the years ? I researched readers for a while, a tried to make sure this one was going to work.
I cleaned the ABS connector and reset the computer and put it thru state inspections, as I had the red Brake light on as well. No lights on the dash for the first time !
I actually had an ABS sensor on order since I never imagined it was going to work, cleaning a 13 year old British pin socket.
I wonder if the earlier serial number scanners were not as intelligent in diagnostics?

If you want me to check the S/N on mine to confirm let me know.

As always, share the knowledge gents !

I did the rewire bypass first just because I like to tinker and it seemed like a good long term fix for future issues. Fast forward to state ispection time and I still had the 4 amigos. Autel kicked out F/L ABS sensor erratic signal, had a sensor ready to order from Rock Auto.

Just for grins took apart the connector under brake master cylinder and cleaned it with qtip and electrical cleaner. Reset truck computer and no lights, even have hill descend ! Went thru inspection.

Very happy camper here. I do not have falsehopes it Will last, but for Now.............

Now 3 inch TF lift going on !
