Default Auto to 5 speed conversion

Hi Guys,

My beloved Discovery was in a collision today that has more than likely totalled the vehicle. One of the things I loved about it is that it is a 5 speed manual. Is it possible and if so how difficult is it to convert an auto to a manual transmission? My drivetrain is fine and being that the 5 speed is sooo hard to find I am considering getting an auto and converting it with my 5 speed. If any one knows any good series I please do tell. Thanks

You can swap out or buy a used ECU to convert an auto back to a 5speed, it will lower the resale valve of the new vehicle though. Most people will tell you that a well maintained auto will serve you better for the bulb of hard wheeling.

Off the road, there is nothing like that constant torque of an automatic. Just make sure to change the fluid every 15 to 20,000 miles, maybe add some Lucas, and it will keep you happy.
