Default Auto trans - late 1-2 shift

I recently picked up my '94 Disco and am working through the little issues to bring it back to par. Just recently, it started hesitating on the 1-2 shift, but ONLY the first shift of the day after sitting all night. It can sit 8 hours at work and it will start out just fine, but after sitting overnight it will hang in first gear up to around 3k even at light throttle.

I've got a filter on the way and am going to change the filter and fluid, but I thought I'd see if anyone could lend any insight on this issue. It seems like something is letting fluid slowly leak back overnight, and it takes that little bit of distance to bring it back up...and sitting for 8 hours isn't enough to let it drain.

Thoughts?

Change your fluid, also consider adding some of the better trranny additives like Lucas to hel free up the valves that can cuse those cold start shift issues. Now there is a possibility that you may have to much wear and it won't change, only time will tell.

In order to change the filter you need to remove a cross member to drop the transmission pan.
It is immposible to do unless you have a impact wrench.
