Default automatic seat switch

My kid broke my passenger side seat switch to my disco II. I'm going to purchase a new/used switch from rover land parts. Anyone have experience in replacing the switch? Do I need to take out the whole arm rest counsol or can i replace the switch without removing the counsol???

Pop out the broken switch, unplug it, plug in new switch, pop back in.
15 min and that includes opening and closing the door.

Very easy replacement.
Keep the old parts in case you ever brake another one.

speaking of broken seat switches, one of the directions stopped working on my switch after my wife drove the truck a few weeks ago and I have had to sit uncomfortably since then, so I decided (after checking the prices of a used switch) to try to "fix" the switch myself. Now I am not sure if the inside of the D2 switch is the same as the inside of a D1 switch but what a nightmare that was, took it apart and had about a dozen small ball bearings and about a half a dozen springs fly out at me! took about an hour and a half to get it cleaned and back together, at least it works again!!! But I will not be repairing another one of those!
