Default Automatic Trans fluid in Axle Oil

Does anyone here put ATF fluid in their Differential Axles ?

I am overlanding and Visited another mechanic in Eastern Europe today other problems not this but he saw the front Front right axle seal. He point it out and say very serious $$$$$. I explain it's just the seal. It leaks out on the tire. It's been doing this over 5 years. He tries to put 75w automatic transmission fluid in the front differential instead of 75w axle fluid. I told him it's the wrong fluid. ATF will make the leak worse and I will have 2 leaking axle seals. He says no and wants to put it in against my instructions (same as the other guy who cut my SLS pipe instead of pulling it out of the air spring). I had to kind of physically grab this guys shoulder and forearm insisting to him not to use ATF fluid in the front diff axle bell housing,

Please tell me who was right here. I have never used ATF in the front Diff. Owned this car forever. Never had any diff problems.

I decided to leave because of that. They surrounded me and insisted me to stay. They would not let me leave the shop until I said no 12 or 15 times and lied about coming back.

Who was right here?

I would never put ATF in a front or rear diff.

The bottle said 75W, but had pictures of transmissions and shifter sticks on the label it said 'for automatic or manual transmission'. I told him it would leak worse he disagreed said no I put in now. Had to lightly grab his shoulder and forearm and say no. If I did that in USA it would be culture violation w yelling a fight. But I learned here things are not like this. And in USA they don't let you stand under the car and participate or I would not have been able to stop it.

Anyone know where I can get 75W Royal Purple in Romania or Serbia?

Anyone know a retail store near RS RO HU border that sells quality Synth similar to Royal Purple?

Think they're possibly talking about syncromesh gear oil. It's not ATF, it's basically gear oil with special additives for older manual transmissions. Diff wise go with 75/90w, 80/90w or 85/140w.

When someone offers you advice, after you asked for it...there is no need to be an a** about the advice offered...we do not know what exact terms Amazon offers where you are or what their pricing is. Amazon here can be overnight and very reasonable. So, you may want to check your atittude at the door...

Better response would be..."Thank you, for your response, but unfortunately...that won't work in this case."

I got it .. found the bottle online .. same company ,, different label .. it's called fluidmatic , the label was dual use .. automatic and manual transmission fluid.

I'm using Royal Purple Synthetic 90W .. I ran out .. they don't sell it here. The best auto shops have 20 different versions of the same thing. ATF.

Do you think I'm correct when I say putting ATF in the front/read diffs is incorrect and will ruin your diffs and make any seal leaks worse.

ATF is for ATF. Not ACE Transfer Case or Diffs. I would only feel comfortable using it to clean sludge. And since it was proven to ruin ACE .. I think it would also ruin the Diffs

From USA is taking weeks or months and you pay 2-3x . From the UK takes weeks. There are shipping disruptions. It's been in the news for weeks.

This guy has shown with his ungrateful attitude in several of his threads that he is a first-class a$$hat. Probably not to the level of being banned, but a good old-fashioned boycott of his requests for help may be in order.

I kind of miss good ol' David O'Hendo. Once you understood him he provided some entertainment value.
