75W is gear oil. Fine in the diff if that is all that is available, especially in cold weather. The multi-grade oils suggested above are better for all year driving conditions. Maybe take a sample and compare to ATF, 75W should be way thicker, and probably stinkier.

Yes. But the bottle says for use in automatic and manual transmissions - and my other bottle says gear oil. max gear sythnetic.
