Default Auxiliary Transmission Cooler

Does anyone run a auxiliary tranny cooler on their Disco? Mine will overheat after driving for a extended period of time in the heat so I plan on soon purchasing a auxiliary cooler for it. Just wondering if anyone is already running one, which one they're running, and how much of a temperature difference did it make?

If your trans is overheating then you have a bigger problem, you need to find out why its overheating.
You should be able to drive through Death Valley in August without overheating the engine or transmission.

Are you sure its overheating? The trans temp sending unit does go bad on DII's.

Read your other post.
Also consider having your cooler flushed when getting the tranny scanned for faults.
There is a slight possibility that your trany temp sensor is failing but you can't risk it, get it checked.

I'm fairly sure it's actualy overheating and it's not just the temp sensor bad since it will take longer to come on when it's 30 something degrees outside rather than 80 something.

I agree with chris...i think it is actually overheating...this started happening after we did some rescue work with the local Fire department going where their rescue truck couldn't go and rescueing people in the recent flood...we had water 2" up on the front and side windows of the Disco (higher with the wake we were making while driving). The tranny was flushed at least 2x with in the month following that little escapade. it helped but didn't cure the problem.

Hope that gives a little history on where the symptom came about from.

So quit waiting to hear everybodys guess and get over to a tranny shop before it totally fails.

'We' are our own tranny/engine/electrical/computer shop. lol Everything that gets done to the Disco or my car is done ourselves out at the shop.

We changed the transmission filter out yesterday and that 'seems' to have fixed the problem as far as I can tell, drove around quite a bit and even did some minor off roading and the light did'nt come on.
