Hmmm its weird some have it and some do not. My 01 has the latch system and being rear facing you could put it in all three backseat locations. When forward facing only the outside two have the latch on the back of the seat to use but based on previous post it might be in the ceiling? I will have to check that out. Both my kids are in booster seats now and I will agree the backseats are a little small but the kids still prefer to ride in the disco instead of our primary car which is newer and had lots of leg room. I think the fact they can see out the windows in the Disco better is why they like it.

Thanks for all the feedback and congratulations!

Sounds like there really isn't any consensus on whether they are there or not. I'll be having a good look today in the daylight to see what I can find.

Keep me posted on what everyone else finds!

I have an 01 and no latch( although hoping I just sourced them).

For now the boost seat sits behind me and the rear facing infant seat goes on the passenger side.

Congrats on the addition. The latch system was not a requirement is US sold cars until 2004. I do remember that Jeep installed a tether hook in my 95 Sport free of charge. The most important thing to do with car seats is to follow the manufactures instructions. You can also go to your local Police Dept and they will help you.(thats for the diapers festering in the hot Vegas sun)

I also found my DI was a bit lacking in the rear leg room department for a baby seat, especially the rear facing ones. I am 6'4 and I can not drive with the baby seat behind the drivers seat. and on the last trip up to the cabin (about a 5 hour drive) with grandma, grandpa (me) Mom , Dad, and the grandchild, it was darn right uncomfortable. I ended up getting a Astro van wit 3 seats for road trips with the family.

Once he got big enough to turn the seat around, it isn't so bad.

I will say outside a mini van or a large SUV, there isnt really any car that have good room for a rear facing baby seat behind a seat. With both my kids, we had the rear facing seat always in the middle and in my mind that also felt like the safest place for them to be. Its weird but my old 99 Grand Prix had more rear backseat room then most any car I have been in outside my in-laws town car. it was just a pain to get in and out of because it was a two door. It had just the waist seat belt in the middle backseat that you cinch down and it worked great for holding that car seat base in place

Hmm...I always thought that's what the safari rack was designed to accommodate. You can barely hear them whimper up there...and no soiled diaper smell!!!

There's always the owners manual. It should show you what the available options are

I'm not sure about the US but in Canada they passed a law that anything produced after 2001 much have baby seat mount points in the back. That means any vehicle on the road built after 2001.
Mine's a 2000...bummer, but I have on problem with the normal seat belts aside from the fact that they'll be warn out and just hanging like ropes by the time my kids are finished with these seats.
