Default Back fire

95 Disco I w/ 154k. Over the past few weeks I have noticed what I would describe as backfires when the truck is around 1500rpm. For example i will stop at the stop sign and then re -accelerate and at about 1500 I get a pop or two and they are somewhat muted, nothing like Uncle Buck! Just did an induction cleanse Saturday (thanks again Mike) and am waiting on parts to switch out the plugs, wires, cap and rotor and do an ATF flush. Oh and the previous owner cut out the cats. My question is whether I treat this as a wait and see or if this throws an immediate red flag. Thanks for the help.

I would bet the maintenance you do will get rid of the backfires. What wires and plugs did you order?

I have the 8mm Magnecores and am waiting on the OEM cap and rotor. I bought the Champion plugs that are cited in the owner's manual.
