I have a license plate mounted camera rigged up to a Pioneer 7" flip screen single-Din head unit. I am loving the large screen for towing or offroading.
My suggestion is to get the camera mounted as high as possible to get away from crud, especially if you offroad often.
I have an aftermarket deck in my 03. Has inputs for rear and front cameras.
The rear I have centered on a rack. Wire comes in via the rear plug deal on the roof and then under the headliner. Gives a good view. The guide lines are not calibrated but they do provide additional reference points.
The front one is above front license plate. Gives a good view for when you need to get close to something or see if you are gonna drop over.

looks awesome! Love the angle. What head unit do you have?
I have a Natika waterproof attached under the trailer hitch with a neodymium magnet. The view doesn't get obstructed by anything in the back like spare tire, window or my hitch rack. It's connected to my DIY head unit.
Hello,
My disco comes with a factory parking sensors and for backup camera, I use a Garmin BC40 totally wireless camera (use AA lithium batteries) with a GPS Garmin DriveSmart 65. They works fine, the video quality is OK and the only problem is that you must sellect from the screen when you want to use the camera, there is no way to connect the camera with a reverse signal.
