Spike, if you have a magnet, go test one of your doors, I recently carried a 97 front door that was gutted and it sure weighed out like it was also metal like the D2's are.
Let me know if you can check.
Thanks
hey mike,,, i did this a few weeks back

roof, doors are steel. hood, fenders etc are all aluminum.

so yeah the doors will rot away.

on the D1, the doors are made of steel, with the outer skin being aluminum- Thats why that door was so heavy Mike!

take a magnet anywhere along the doors-inside or around the edges

Yeah, an all aluminum door would be much lighter, and fatigue over time too! Well has anyone ever tried the color matched aerosol paint? I was thinking of repainting that section myself. You know, prime then paint, then clearcote. Any one ever seen good results. I know alot of people out there have done crappy jobs, but I have hope here!

Did you guys not watch my video?
On a DI EVERY body skin is aluminum EXCEPT the roof.
On a DII The doors and roof are steel, the rest of the skins are aluminum.

Yes, i watched your video. You tried to stick a magnet to the OUTSIDE panels. I thnk people were getting confused thinking we're saying the WHOLE door was aluminum. But you're right-key word-SKINS

That was not aimed at you, but you stated it the best in your replay so I quoted you.

Easy fix. Sand --> fill --> prime --> paint.

Get the paint you have color matched at a good paint shop. Maaco will do the door for less than 250 bucks I'll bet.
