Bad rover experience
not me but someone I saw on another group.
guess he bought it unseen. Not sure.
this disco apparently was for sale on eBay about a month ago
My initial experience with the Discovery turned sour due to dealer misrepresentation, Roverclassic.com (Mike). Despite understanding that a nearly 30-year-old Land Rover would have issues, I expected honesty regarding the vehicle's condition. The car was advertised as rust-free and fully functional. Both verbally and through email the dealer assured me there were no mechanical issues, zero signs of any leaking of water, no lights on the dash, windows and sunroofs all worked properly and no leaking from engine bay. The advertisement stated, “absolutely no rust anywhere on the car” Upon receipt, significant rust damage was immediately very clear, along with water leakage from the headliner, so much so that the water leaking onto the steering wheel caused the horn to blow when the battery was connected. Multiple dashboard lights were on, the speedometer and odometer are nonfunctional, and neither of the sunroofs work. Also, obvious fluid leaks from the engine bay. These issues, while not all deal breakers, were disappointing given the dealer's assurances.
I immediately set an appointment with a local shop that specializes in (classic) Land Rovers. To have the vehicle looked at.
Prior to the appt. I shared pictures from the dealer’s website. After dropping the vehicle off, the local shop called as they immediately noticed discrepancies. Comparing the website pictures with the actual vehicle, they concluded that the posted pictures were not of the same car. Examples included differences such as, car in pictures not being rear AC equipped, different floor panels, a number of things. The local shop ultimately advised against driving the vehicle as they shared that in their opinion, the vehicle was unsafe to dry. To hide some of the rust, sections underneath the vehicle were simply cut out, notably the support on the underside of the driver’s seat. This is a small list of what was all found but hope it saves someone else from a similar experience.
Efforts to resolve the issue were not taken seriously by the dealer (mike). After only two conversations with the dealer additional calls went unanswered, though they promptly answered when I called from a different number. Despite attempts to resolve the matter, the dealer has refused to address the situation.

Yeah, you're onto something there. I think something is fishy in Denmark. I also just noticed South Carolina... It will be interesting to see if this goes anywhere, and where that might be.
