Default Ball joint removal

Hi everyone!

So while I was rebuilding the drivers side front hub and swivel assembly, I decided to repalce the ball joints as well. I got the ball joint out of the swivel arm using a ball joint separator tool from Atlantic British. Then I loosened the clamp on the rod. So far so good. But when I tried to unscrew the ball joint from the rod, I could barely get it to turn a few degrees in either direction. What am I doing wrong? Is there a special tool I need to unscrew these?

Thanks in advance for your help!
Andrew

I would say a vice clamped on one end, large vice grips on the other end and the addition of heat if needed (not too much)would do the trick. Are you talking about the steernig tie-rod?

Yeah it is the steering ball joint that attaches to the driver side swivel. The rod has the steering damper attached to it. I am kinda worried because I need to replace all 5 and I can't even get the first one off :-)

I will give that method a try!

Thanks
Andy
