Battery choice for Disco II
#11
Thanks for all the replies. I live in Canada so it was harder to track down the Duralast Gold batteries. We do have an Interstate distributor here though so I went with one of theirs. I ended up going with their Optima series as it has 800CCA and a 72 month warranty. Ill see over the long run how the battery holds up but right off the bat it was nice to see how easy the engine turned over.

Duralast question
I second the Duralast Gold from AutoZone.
That is what I have, 3 years now with no problems, $80 I think it was.
1000 CCA (cold cranking amps) and a 6 year prorated warranty and 3 years free replacement.
It is made by Johnson Controls in Holland MI.
Interstate batteries are great batteries too, a good brand that has been around forever.

Go for an AutoCraft Platinum AGM 65. Order through the Advance Auto website using the code on the banner at the top of the page for a discount and pick it up in store half an hour later. That's the battery I have in mine and it fits perfectly as well as working perfectly in temps ranging from 95 and sunny to -10 and overcast.

I have recently returned from the wasteland after my own battery searching quest.
The lure of higher CCA is strong.
I found the reality of battery box dimensions Vs post orientation Vs availability Vs whatever else to be challenging.
I opted for the platinum agm 65 mentioned above. if I get through the winter with no problems I will call my quest a success. Comes with 3 year warrantee I think.
If you find a higher CCA, with the posts the right way round, available, with the same guarantee it should be stickied cos the quest is tricky.

Today I bought the AutoCraft Platinum AGM 65 battery online from Advanced Auto.
It was originally $199.99 +$22 core charge but I used 2 coupon codes and got $55 taken off of the price so I got it for $168.53.
After work tonight, I'll pick it up at my local AA store.
