Thanks for all the replies. I live in Canada so it was harder to track down the Duralast Gold batteries. We do have an Interstate distributor here though so I went with one of theirs. I ended up going with their Optima series as it has 800CCA and a 72 month warranty. Ill see over the long run how the battery holds up but right off the bat it was nice to see how easy the engine turned over.

Default Duralast question

That is what I have, 3 years now with no problems, $80 I think it was.
1000 CCA (cold cranking amps) and a 6 year prorated warranty and 3 years free replacement.
It is made by Johnson Controls in Holland MI.

Interstate batteries are great batteries too, a good brand that has been around forever.
I know it's been a while since you wrote this but I'm looking at picking up a duralast gold. The smallest one with 1000 CA 850 CCAs is the 65-DLG. The only problem is that it measures almost 7" wide at the bottom and if I'm measuring correctly, my battery case in the Disco is a tad over 6.5" Do you know the model Duralast Gold you got? Did it fit into the battery case stock without any modifications? Thanks!

Go for an AutoCraft Platinum AGM 65. Order through the Advance Auto website using the code on the banner at the top of the page for a discount and pick it up in store half an hour later. That's the battery I have in mine and it fits perfectly as well as working perfectly in temps ranging from 95 and sunny to -10 and overcast.

No Advance Auto Parts in my area. Thank you though. I really am looking to get the Duralast Gold, I just need to know what model number/size works in the stock battery compartment.

Get a overpriced underpowered Optima Yellow Top

They only have 750 CCA but LOOK REALLY COOL!

I have recently returned from the wasteland after my own battery searching quest.

The lure of higher CCA is strong.

I found the reality of battery box dimensions Vs post orientation Vs availability Vs whatever else to be challenging.

I opted for the platinum agm 65 mentioned above. if I get through the winter with no problems I will call my quest a success. Comes with 3 year warrantee I think.

If you find a higher CCA, with the posts the right way round, available, with the same guarantee it should be stickied cos the quest is tricky.

OK, I went with the Duralast Gold in 34-DLG size. Fits perfectly. 800 CCA, 1000 CA. No mods necessary.

Anyone tried a lithium battery? Expensive but claimed to be better in every way.

Thanks for the info Alex_M!
Today I bought the AutoCraft Platinum AGM 65 battery online from Advanced Auto.
It was originally $199.99 +$22 core charge but I used 2 coupon codes and got $55 taken off of the price so I got it for $168.53.
After work tonight, I'll pick it up at my local AA store.
