Default Battery sized Tray on frame rails under driver side of car?

Hello all. I’m a new owner and doing a lot of preventative maintenance to my discovery 2. I’ve base lined fluids, did the pcv mod, inline thermostat mod, replaced front driveshaft, among other things.

when I was under the car I saw a battery sized tray/rack that looks factory installed on main frame rail under drivers side of car. Does anyone know what this is? No mention of it in owners manual and I did a search here for it also.

I’m wondering if it was to house a pump for the active suspension option which I don’t have?

Thx!

Rick

If your Dll had air ride suspension option, that's where they mount the air pump. No air ride, no pump...leaves bracket area empty.
