Battery Terminal Blues

Looks like over it's 12 year life my rover's battery terminals were connected and disconnected enough that the metal's been stretched out and they can no longer be meaningfully tightened.
A set of new LR battery cables is out of the question $ wise...
I'm wondering if I could simply replace the terminals with a generic version? I imagine it would take some careful work but I am guessing I can free the stock cables from the stock terminals? Has anyone else done this or how did you resolve this issue? Really not sure I want to run all new lines here!

is your problem that you can no longer tighten them, if so they do sell terminal end shims. They look like a little cup that sides over your treminal then the cable end goes over that when you tighten the cable end it crushes the cup onto your battery post.
If you do need to replace the ends the negitive is standard, but I would to go to an RV, truck, or marine supply to get the positive cable end. You see the positive cable end has two 00 battery cables running to it and they will not fit into a standard replacement cable end. You need an end that is made to run batteries in series, very common on Rv, trucks and boats.

My positive terminal bounced off on the trail in CO a few months ago. I knew it was loose, so i had one of these with me.
Tsunami/2-4 and 2-8 AWG holes 24K gold plated negative battery block terminal (BT705) | Battery Terminal End and Adapter | AutoZone.com
I cut the old terminal off as close as possible, striped back some wire and put this on. 30 mins later i was on the trail again.

Mine were originally parallel to each other but I had to route them that way after cutting the cables there is not a lot of extra cable once you cut them off.
You can cut the cable with a pair of side cutter or diagonal cutter; it takes a minute to get thru.
If you notice that cable end does not just mash the cable down like the standard cable ends, Rather the cables slide into a water tight connector which it the tighten and shrink wrapped.
I have found those standard replacement cable end are fine for an emergency, but if you take them apart in a few months’ you will find them filled with corrosion.
But that’s just been my personal experience with them.
