Default Battery Terminal Nut & Bolt Broke **HOLY CRAP**

Talk about retarded.... What is Land Rover thinking with this bolt & nut?

My nut and bolt broke for my positive terminal.

Of course there is a special bolt and nut that is required to pinch the clamp together..

Would take it off the negative and replace the negative cord but its in a tough spot to get to.

Nothing on the internet that sells this special nut & bolt.

Anyone have a recommendation?

Mine was broke and loose when i got my Disco. Looks like you have to purchase the positive cable with end on it. I went ahead and purchased a heavy duty replacement terminal and was done with it.

I dremeled the old one down and pried it off with some pliers. Then replaced with a universal terminal from Napa.

Self-Shower Thoughts...

Think I am going to take the nut and bolt off the negative, cut the negative terminal off at the end... Buy a replacement single terminal (since a dual positive is tough to find) and call it a day..

I wonder if this could be modded to work for our vehicles...

BWD BH59 - Battery Cable Bolt | O'Reilly Auto Parts

It's for the late model GM vehicles that use a similar stupid setup.

I don't fully understand the problem. The thread title says "Battery Terminal Nut & Bolt Broke," but the photo shows two nuts that seem to be intact. If it's a bolt that's broken it's easy to buy an appropriate diameter hex head bolt and file or grind down the head to match the design of the original head pictured. That's what I did when I wanted an extended length battery clamp bolt to which I could attach another positive cable to power an added circuit.

I agree the Land Rover terminal design is dorky, but solving this problem, if I understand it correctly, doesn't require surgery to the cable.

I'm missing it, too, so this may be off base. Mine stretched so I wanted to replace them and the OP is right, finding a double wire setup locally is not in the cards. I got a new universal one for negative, and got a lead cap for the positive that slides over the terminal, so you can stretch it out another 15 years. I don't remember the size of the bolt but I just got one about the same size at the auto parts store. The lead caps were behind the counter at advance auto.

Old bolt broke, new bolt that I grinded down to fit snapped inside the nut, tried to extract, no dice..

Now both bolt and nut are shot. Have 1 remaining bolt & nut from the negative that it looks like I will end up using, and put a new terminal fitting on the negative.

Oh. I get it. Sorry.

That does highlight the poor design of the terminal clamps and the double positive setup.

What a pain. Sadly I don't have a fix.
