BCU Lock?!
Help.
04 Disco - I have a feeling I may have just caused a BCU LOCK / anti theft lockup & if anyone with some experience or expertise may point me in the right direction would be reading this, Please, any insight wold be appreciated.
Im on the final stages of wiring a few aux switches.
I have just mounted and ran new 14g wiring to a BLUSeas aux fuse box under hood.
I have 5 Aux switches in cabin
I meticulously labeled everything and consulted with electrician to make sure Ive been running fuse, and relays correctly
I connect last wire this eve, and connect battery to test
- I slide on battery terminals, and do not tighten as they are snug - and simply looking to test switches
- walk around to cabin, and hazards are blinking.
-- I immediately attribute this to tapping into my (what i believed to be hazard power supply?) dimming power - for switch illumination.
NOW to fully disclose:
3 switches are new carling switches. brought in own power supply to switchs
2 switches are non latching cruise control pillar switches salvaged from other d2 - in which I replaced the fog light cover for an authentic "factory" auxiliary ( roof rack light)
I cut pigtails, and wired 2 switches to relays for 2 separate LED roof rack aux lights.
*I had been using the one switch on dash for quite some time - worked excellent! -
and as I had dash opened up to add new carling switches, and add aux fuse box - i added one more too rack light switch.
I pulled both pillar switch power AND dimmer light power for pillar roof rack lights AND dimmer light power only for new 3 carlings switches ( old cruise control switches - 17A each rated, using 14g wire to relay - pulling relay power to roof from blue sea box) all from that one red wire under steering wheel i identified as headlight power - using for dimmer power for switches.
I immediately realize what a silly move to pull all this from that one red wire line beneath steering wheel.
( because i figured the switch working great was only powering switch to relay and LED - adding an additional wouldn't hurt - and wasn't thinking when i thought id also be ok to pull three more dimmer switch bulbs on the same as well)
SO when i connect battery: hazards.
okay - figured obvious mistake - ill straighten this out right away.
between time of walking around truck to disconnect - DIFF LOCK gear illumination and audible alarm.
now I can't turn key back and out of ignition.
So I believe with my tap on wire - I drew too much? - and have perhaps told BCU to go into anti theft mode ?!?!
I can turn key to "start" but getting no spark -
I do connected battery for 20 min - and disconnected dimmer power tap
DIFF LOCK went away - but hazards are blinking
I have a valet key, and have tried unlocking and locking 3x.
If anyone knows what I can do here, or what Ive done...
im patiently reading everything i can.
