Buckle up, but I'm sure since you've been around, that you know you're in for a ride

Tune-up is a good start and money well spent if it doesn't fix anything.

Ace uses power steering fluid. A flush isn't a bad idea either. suck-up what is in the bottle and replace with fresh. start engine and let idle for a few minutes, suck-up and replace fluid and repeat 4-5 times. You'll see the oil get clearer every time.

P.S, I like the color too.

Page 119 of the DII workshop manual says that you can use power assisted steering fluid, Dexron II or Dexron III. I used Dex/Merc ATF fluid. What you're saying is that I can use any power steering fluid?

The color is very cool. Thanks Darover.

Guess this will work too. Thanks Okdisco but I want to stay far far away from the dealer.

Do yourself a huge favor and buy these.
Both for left and right.

Then you wont have to order your wiper blades, you can go to any store that sells them and buy them for your truck.
Yet again one of the many advantages of owning a DI.
And yes, DI wiper arms are a direct bolt on for a DII.

Carquest is your friend with a DII. I ordered replacement wiper blades for my rig from them, arrived in 2 days, and they were cheaper than the blades I would have bought if I could have just thrown on anything. So far, in all the rain we've been getting the last couple months around here, they perform wonderfully. Can't remember what brand they were, but they're actually cheaper than AB too.

I just completed the flush for the ACE and Power Steering Systems on my DII. Disco Mike provided the following helpful information. Complete two flushes using regular power steering fluid (I used the Havoline High Mileage). Then do two more flushes using synthetic fluid and add about a half bottle of Lucas power steering additive on the final fill. I ordered the Royal Purple Synthetic PS fluid through my local Advanced Auto Parts store. The ACE and the PS reservoir hold a pint each. My ACE and PS run like new now...

ATF would be for a DI power steering system.

The "service engine soon" light was on when I picked this rig up. I noticed that the po had not tightened the fuel cap properly and once I did this the light extinguished. Has this happened to anyone else? I had a 2007 Honda that would display a "service engine light" if the fuel cap was loose but I didn't know if that was the case with my Disco (2001) seeing that it is a bit older. Thanks for any advice you all can provide.

My 2001 S-10 would do that too, so I'm sure if a Chevy would do it in '01, then a Land Rover would too.

Every time my wife fills up the disco, the light comes on. Just can not get her to put that last 1/4 turn on the cap.

I didn't think a transfer case was such a big deal that it would require selling a truck.
