Good news though you shouldn't have any issue finding a spare front axle housing. LKQ & Wrench A Part in Austin usually always have a D2 in their inventory.

Any one know what kind of metal this thing is? Steel? Cast iron?

Well now i can not get the upper ball joint in. Fml

Hands cramped shut...I’m giving up. I’ve rebuilt this top end and that job was easier!

Ill be getting another axle housing. Have to have it ready for Hill country Rover rally!!

Yeah I hear ya! I’ve been pretty busy getting the old XD running good for HCRR as well.
