I am looking for a Diagnostic tool to upgrade from my old basic OBD II (INNOVA)
I see the functionality of the LR only or specific models like Nanocom, but I don't mind spending more for a unit that will do all the things for our D2's but also more in depth for other cars.
Needs:
Detailed Codes for D2 - including ABS codes "Three Amigos"
including Power Bleed, etc.
Support for other LR models (Maybe LR4 & older Defenders)
More detailed info on other makes I have - Ford especially
I guess I'll be the tester for this one. I went with the Foxwell NT809, mostly because it will work with all the cars I need, and will do most of what I need for the '04 D2 I have.
Interested to hear how this works on your D2. I was looking at the Autel diag tools, like the AP200. Support was a little vague on what live data I could see.
The best is nanocom but I've been using the Autel AL619 and it works fine to read/clear codes...it also does show some live data which was helpful in troubleshooting my o2 sensors.
If you want cheap with lots of compatability torque pro $6 bucks and a $20 ELM blue tooth obd dondle. Will read o2 voltages, coolant temp, map, read/cear cels. Won't do abs. Works with Android, I don't know about ios.

the Foxwell the op got is a bidirectional diag tool. Does the Autel you have live data for misfires, voltages for the evap system components, etc?
Basically this list:

Bidirectional is one of the reasons I went with the Foxwell NT809. When it arrives Friday I plan on doing a lot of playing around with it. I'll report back but if there is something you would like to see, I'm happy to check it out.
So I got the tool and so far I'm underwhelmed. I wasn't expecting a perfect LR specific Nanocom and needed a tool for multiple brands of cars, but I am having a hell of a time getting it to connect to the D2; especially the ecu for the abs module. I know it's connecting to the ABS system because it illuminates the ABS Light, Traction Control HD, etc while it is trying to communicate.
So far I am unable to read the ABS codes.
It doesn't auto recognize the vin
It doesn't recognize the VIN with manual entry
It Does see the vin on the Engine ECU module
I will reserve full judgement for when I hear back from tech support.
