Best & Most Complete Head Gasket Kit
Unfortunately it's that time!
Shopping around for the best options, the most complete and quality are the main factors.
Never done it before, but if is twice as hard as removing the Intake Manifold I'm going for it.
But the 2 things are mainly what I want to avoid:
1) to take everything at part and to notice that I need to order something else.
2) for the new parts not to last as these lasted 120K+ miles.
So many options out there, for those of you who had done it: Would you mind to share your source, which kit and what is the budget for this?
Gracias amigos!

Search here for PT Schram and don't look back
He is no longer as active here as he once was but in addition to a perfectly wonderful HG kit you get phone consultation as needed at no extra charge.
Users of this forum can never do enough to repay PT for his contributions here, whether or not you personally benefited.
Good luck.

You are better off piecing it together. Choose ARP cyl' head studs over the head bolts. Those in "the know" recommend Fel-Pro cylinder head gaskets which you won't find in any Rover head gasket kits. The kits basically include everything that allowed the head gaskets to give out the 1st & 2nd time so go out of your way to get those parts which will keep your engine water/air tight. Put a new water pump & viscous fan on it too unless you just happened to put a pump on it within the past year.
I used a Victor Reinz head gasket kit purchased from my local Bap-Geon, aka All Import Auto Parts; there should be 1 in your area. +\- $150
http://www.bap-geon.com
I got the ARP stud set from AutoPlicity; best prices I found. Get the 157-4301 part number. $200
https://autoplicity.com/search?searchterms=157-4301
The VR gasket kit did not include the proper O-rings for the 2 manifold outlets; i.e. Coolant outlet elbow and heater pipe outlet. I took the 2 pieces to a hardware store & bought asst' Orings.
Remove the factory head bolts with ONLY a 6-point, 5/8 impact socket.
The nuts in the stud kit require a 12-point 5/8 or 16mm
High quality water pump & new fan clutch from anywhere. +\- $150
Don't forget that the valve stem seals included with the HG kit go with your cyl' heads for rework & machining to be installed by their techs during the process. +\- $200

I went with the lucky 8 kit and did studs and had a machine shop do my heads and also clean my intake upper and lower while it was off. That only cost me $225 in bham. Take pictures while u take it off and make sure when you take your push rods off, label them in the order they came off of and that side and put them back in the same place!!!!

I will ad that Elring gaskets are the best and actually come in the Eurospare kit. The valve cover gaskets in those kits fit great as well, I find the victor reins ones to be slightly too small. The kit comes with everything needed except;
- coolant pipe to lower manifold o-ring
- head studs
- upper manifold to lower manifold gasket
- coolant pipe to lower manifold o-ring
- head studs
- upper manifold to lower manifold gasket

these trucks come with Elring gaskets from the factory, do they not?
Do you think the combination of the Elring gasket with aftermarket head studs will allow more mileage to be gained from the same gasket that barely lasted the first 75K-100K miles?
