Best Place to mount a stereo Amp in a D1
I want to mount an amp that is about 12 inches long 10 inches wide, 2 inches deep
I have no idea where to mount it, as I have a 6 CD changer under the drivers seat, amp + diagnostics under passenger, and I don't want to mount it on the subwoofers it will be powering because I want them to come out easy.
Can't do it on the walls of the back because the jump seats
just looking for some creative suggestions, i'm leaning towards the back of the back seats

how about the back door (cargo door)? it might take some modification depending on what size power wire you plan to run but if it is a sub amp it should be fine to run the power,RCA, and speaker wires together through the door boot (or if your concerned about noise you could add an extra door boot for the RCA's and speaker wires, its not that hard). I would just get some spacers to stand it off the door and some grommets to run the wires out of the door to the amp (or one big hole under the amp where they all come out), it will look good if you ever show off your audio system as well as be in a well ventilated area!
also don't forget the back seats fold up so remember that if you choose there
another idea is a false floor in the cargo area but that requires quite a bit of extra work and money (specially if you make a plexiglass cover over the amp)

another place may be under the rear seat this may be a problem if your jack tools are there, but I have seen a few installs like that (on other vehicles) where they actually modify the bottom of the seat (cut out a small section) so that the amp will fit there.
Yeah, that was mt thought as well. Watch the heat coming off, as there isn't much air flow. Also watch clearance. Someone in the backseat with a large fanny might be sitting right on the amp...then you can have seat heaters in the back...
if you pick a spot with a tight fit and heat is a concern, stinger makes a great low profile amp fan (they are long in different lengths 8" should be fine)this will keep it cool if not ventilated.
