Hi I have a 2003 Disco II and was wondering if any body has mounted any ham radios I am just looking for ideas..or a picture would be nice. I was thinking pass side under dash? Just a though...I tried to search threads and didn't see anything.

How big is the radio?
You need to be careful where you mount it, if you get in a accident youi dont want it to interfear with the airbag or the passenger when they hit the dash, etc.

Well I don't have a ham radio but my CB is mounted right on top of the dash dead center. I just pulled out that black rubber mat and put the mounting plate right in there. Then I cut up the rubber mat to let it fit over the mounting plate. Looks straight from the factory.

My antenna is mounted on the spare tire carrier, but when I get my roof rack I'm going to move it up there.

 

Hazlet - Any chance you could post a picture of your CB mounted? I'm thinking of doing the same thing and would like to see how it looks.

 

Sure, I let a friend borrow it to go to work this morning but when he gets back I'll take a few. There's actually a write up of a similar mount in a DII at discovery2.co.uk as well. That write up was actually done perfectly, it literally looks like they put it in right at the factory. Mine's not so clean
