Default Better Exhaust (sound)

Looking to upgrade my exhaust in my 04 Disco. Bone stock 4.6 Bosch. Maybe not headers at this point but definitely muffler. Any suggestions that would give me a throaty sound? Eliminate the cat? Keep the cat?

This is my stock 2004 4.6.

Stock headers, y pipe with cats, no center muffler but with rear muffler.
I think I got the cheapest cats+center+muffler kit from Rimmerbros.

I have stock cats and a Magna-flo (centre) muffler on my 4.6 P38 (no rear muffler). It sounds really good, but I get a drone that’s a bit annoying around 2200 RPM.

I'm not entirely sure what was done to mine but after I had my cats replaced by insurance for theft it's been way louder. No cats will be loud and obnoxious so maybe just take out the rear muffler

We have no cats and stock low mile muffler on the 99 disco. Has a low throaty V8 rumble but it's not loud and not noticable inside the rig.

My 7.3 PSD and 2.0 vw TDI swapped yota are both straight piped so maybe my idea of loud is skewed.

I recently installed the MagnaFlow OEM Y-pipe and stainless steel exhaust on my 04. After a break in period (500-1200 miles) it sounds and works great. At first, it was ear splitting. After 500 miles, it got better as the stainless was heat treated and the muffler packing settled in just as MagnaFlow told me it would. I have a slight drone at 1700 rpms but overall I'm really glad that I installed the system.
