Default Better MPG gunning it around than driving like a granny...

Has anyone ever experienced this? I've been getting 10mpg when I drive like a granny and 12.5 running it like a sports car. Has anyone experienced this? I've been working my way through and replacing O2s and I'm going to be replacing the MAF soon since it's getting a little brown spot on the sensor wire. I do have a known exhaust leak right before the right hand catalytic converter that has thrown an exhaust code, but it's very minimal, it doesn't even make extra noise once the exhaust is warmed up.

Any ideas? Thanks guys!

I've read a few times that getting up to speed quickly actually improves MPGs. I drive in sport mode around town, and get up to speed fast, but I don't gun it. I'm getting about 12.9 mpg this way.

Makes sense to me. I guess I just need to play with it some and see what works best.

You're driving a Disco and you can get up to speed quickly?

I had a fancy 4.6. parked it tore it down, and bought a 1992 Silverado with a 4.3/5spd and a 400k odometer...

that 160 hp 5300# truck walks circles around my 4.6 125k odo and 5300 # truck. (with a net gear ratio of 4.10; 3.54 with a 1.2;1 high range).

Explain "quickly" and "Rover" in the same sentence with a straight face and sobriety, please?

My best zero to 60 time sits at around 10.5 seconds, but I'm far from stock. I don't even know what a factory original 4.6 would do it in.

I've been browsing rover forums for almost 4 years now and this is definitely a first.
