There can also be a lot of sag in the springs, so going to a bigger size might have issues where others don't. If you're getting better tires, consider replacing the springs, even if you're not into wheeling that much.

i have 245/70 16's and there are no issues.. i dont see any reason why you couldnt run just a little larger tire...
Not with a high mileage stock suspension on some moderate hard trails, you'll be cutting rubber.

i have a 97 with 155000 miles and suspension so worn out it sounds like my axles are gonna fall off... but to get any flex with those larger tires a lift would be suggested... but if you arent really looking to get full articulation then go for it... and like i said before if they rub, well then thats just justification to order a lift... check out rovertym, i just ordered their 2" lift and they were super nice and it got delivered quick... hopefully i can put it on this saturday...

I have 235/75/r16 and everything is fine. I did some wheeling and there was no rubbing at all. Someone said 245/75/r16 would be fine too.
