it seems legit. Maybe they are paying attention to the Cooling woes of the D2.

I agree it seems legit, but I'd never put a piece of Britpart equipment anywhere as important as my cooling system.

They didn't have oem 180*, but they had motorad 180* for $27.95...... Also had oem 190* for $47.95... ( this black one was also $47.95)... But I have seen Genuine TD5,180* listed elsewhere ,anywhere from $80 to $150.

I know Britpart gets their parts from different sources , the Rotoflex was also a Britpart,( stamped , GKN , made in Germany).

Britpart use many manufacturers and much is crap but some are good. I would be amazed if GKN were marketing via Britpart as Hardy Spicer and GKN are the tops in standards for UJ's and other parts. GKN are on a quality platform level with companies like Timken and SKF bearings.

As far as TD5 stats are concerned, I don't know where Britpart source these from so personally I wouln't use them and would prefer genuine LR OEM or Gates. There is a marked difference between genuine LR parts and OEM parts as you may well know.

I have one of these. I ordered from overseas, what appeared to be the gen 180 grey t-stat, and I got this. As I was in a pinch trying to get the full engine rebuild done before winter hit, I threw it in there instead of wasting even more time returning it.

After an entire engine rebuild, an entirely new cooling system, and this t-stat, I have been running for the last 5k miles or so on this with 174-186 degree readings. (Ultraguage)

170's driving, and no more than 186.8 when just sitting at a stop light.

Seems to work great. That being said, it's not summer just yet.

Thanks, for letting me know, now I feel a little better about it, it does look like a decent quality thermostat inside plastic housing, up close, (like a Japanese made piece). Did u have any heating problem in cold? Did it say Britpart on box also?

Yes, it was a Britpart box as well.

No issues in the cold and it was down to -25 on a couple days. Car always got up and hot by the time I hit the highway.
