Anyone have any opinions on whether this Tap and Drill Technique would work on the plastic oe t-valve if I were to grind off the socket? I have ordered a new upper hose set already, but then I came across this so was really just interested! Thanks

What's wrong with yours? Not a good idea when you should be able to pick up a BMW PN 17111712788 to use unless your T threads are bad. There's also a risk of cracking a brittle T when taping.

The vertical side piece of the socket has a tiny crack from over tightening. Today I put some epoxy on the sides and around the socket, unfortunately, after a test run around the block I was getting a small coolant stream out of the microscopic crack. All threads are solid and streamline on both bleeder screw and T-connector.
....Meanwhile, still waiting on my e-bay order for the

male socket
FYI, sockets have been traditionally referred to as female due to having plugs inserted into them.

Glad to know new hose assembly headed your way. The male bleeder plugs have an o-ring and once it needs replacing some folks over torque them causing the cracks. Always a good idea to have a spare plug, they can be hard to find if dropped or o-ring slips off.

That is brilliant. I think I'll try to do that this weekend.

The Bleeder screw isn't the issue.. the socket is cracked so no matter what position the screw is set to I still have a small stream of coolant flow...

I think when the new upper hose arrives I will put the Brass Bleeder screw and not mess with it. I'll bleed by raising the reservoir tank. Thought?

The valve I used is in the compressor section at Home Depot. You will need to tap and drill for the valve.

The drill size for 1/4"npt is 7/16". Be careful how far in that you run the tap. They are tapered and if you run it in too deep it won't get tight. I know there is a joke here somewhere. D*
