Default bleeding power steering

Hi again folks, I made my first post yesterday regarding bleeding a power steering pump on a 99 Discovery 2 but it somehow got deleted.
I rebuilt the pump due to a leak at the gasket that seperates the aluminium resevoir chamber and the cast pump housing.
I resurfaced the resevoir and rebuilt the unit to cure the leak, now, I cant get the pump to give any assist. I have opened the bleed nipple to release trapped air but should I run the motor to pump the system clear or is static bleeding ok ?

If the reservor is full, I would start the engine, BUT, only for a couple seconds, like 1 or 2 and then turn it off. If it doesn't prime it self, get back to me and I will start searching the books.

I had been beating myself over the head trying to get the trapped air out of the power steering system. I was constantly getting little itty bits of air from the bleed nipple but nothing I did seemed to be working until I hit on this simple idea.
I attached a pipe to the bleed nipple and ran it up to the main resevoir, started the car and this allowed the pump to recirculate the fluid and the trapped air into the tank without having to top off any lost fluid. The air simply went to atmosphere while the fluid bled back into the system.
In all my years I have never had so much aggravation bleeding a system so I hope this easy tip might help some hapless owner to get the job done.

Default Power steering box leaking from top bolt

I'm having a similar issue and I'm hoping turning to this forum can help me I have a 99 Land Rover discovery 2 160,000 miles and have done lots of restoring and yet still lots more to go it seems like one thing after the other. I'm experiencing little drips of fluid underneath my truck so I looked under the hood and traced it to the top of the power steering box by the bigger bolt .ugh I recently replaced power steering pump now this . Any and all suggestions, tips are and will be utmost appreciated thx
